I was working on what was supposed to be a straight play on the life of University of Baguio's founder, Fernando G. Bautista, and in one scene where the young Fernando talked about his dream of becoming a lawyer, I began with "Ako ay may pangarap...". And then this line followed, "...mataas pa sa alapaap." I was amused by the rhyme... and then "maging isang abogadong magtatanggol sa mahihirap." Noticing that the lines had a certain rhythm to it, I picked up my guitar and tried to set the lines to music. The play, "Pangarap," a sung-through musical, was the first full-length play I wrote and my first serious venture into music.
I am not a musician, I play elementary piano and a little bit of guitar. I can hardly read notes. But I do try to express myself through music every now and then...
